Oh how I have fallen for the Doctor ♥ :P
Big Season 3 Doctor Who SPOILERS up to the finale under the cut, but first a quick question... I keep reading different things regarding whether or not David Tennant is leaving. Is it true that he'll only be in a few eps of season 4? Could someone possibly clarify what we know or don't know because all the different rumors/reports are driving me nuts.
Ok, everyone was right. Season 3 made me TOTALLY fall in love with the Tenth Doctor :D I think i'll still forever be a Chris Eccleston girl, but I am completely in love with season 3 Tennant. I was expecting to hate the third season, but I actually thought pretty much everything about it was utterly perfect - other than the Dalek episodes. I just could not take the human Dalek seriously for some reason. But the rest of the season was flawless and I loved it! I adored the fact that Rose was a still continuous presence, and I even grew to like Martha by the end. But mainly, I was just amazed by David Tennant ♥ I was of the very strong opinion all throughout season 2 that he was nowhere near the actor that Chris Eccleston was... but he definitely proved me wrong! I loved the little subtle things, not even just the Doctor-as-human double ep, but all the end stuff with the Master... when the Doctor is cradling him, begging him to regenerate, DT just blew me away. I think i've watched that scene about 15 times already and I only finished the season yesterday!
The whole Doctor/Master plot completely broke my heart. Back in 3x03 with the Face of Boe and again later when Martha tells Ten that there might be another Time Lord, the Doctor seems to totally ignore it, as if the mere thought of even entertaining the notion of letting himself HOPE that it COULD be true, is just too impossible/painful/scary for him. (Yes, that was an intentionally ridiculous sentence! hee) So then, to bring back another TimeLord, and not only make him evil, but have him DIE in the Doctor's arms... I mean, my GOD the writers are cruel! It killed me that he was so desperate to have the Master live. Right till the very end, his absolute desperation to not be left alone in the universe once more :( Seriously. Killed me :(
Speaking of The Master though, could he have been any more brilliant?? ;) It took about two seconds for a Doctor/Master wallpaper to appear on my desktop and my collection of DW icons grew rather impressively in the hours after I finished watching the finale :P
Also, does anyone else find the Daleks really really adorable? Not so much when they're trying to destroy the universe, but, you know, just... in general. What with their little flashing ears and the way they wobble from side to side a tiny bit when they talk... i'm totally in love with them! In Doomsday, the scene where the Dalek and Cyberman have a nice little chat out in the hallway before trying to blow eachother up had me in absolute hysterics :P
* Dalek: "The Daleks have no concept of elegance". / Cyberman: "This is... obvious".
* Dalek: "You are superior in only one respect". / Cyberman: "What is that?". / Dalek: "You are better at dying!".
* Dalek: "This is not war. Its PEST CONTROL!"♥
I do miss Rose, but its almost worth having her not there because it made me fall in love with the Doctor so much more. This season was extremely Doctor-centric, and dealt with his emotions a LOT more than s2, and I think overall it was absolutely brilliant :D
And i am SO excited about Catherine Tate coming back as the next companion! She couldn't be more different to Rose and Martha, and as someone who still cannot get over the loss of Rose, I think Donna is just what the series needs :D
Ok, so that was a tad longer than I had intended...
Harry Potter Day was all kinds of awesome ♥
It was actually a LOT more hectic than the HBP release, but we were expecting that. I wish I wasn't in charge of the store on the day because it was a huge responsibility and i'd only just started supervising again, so I was a little stressed! But it all went pretty smoothly and there were no major screw ups.
The store I work in isn't massive, but it's decently sized and we had about 1000 pre-orders. Because of that, we only had a couple of hundred to actually sell off the shelves and technically, we had completely sold out by 10am! For the last book, there was a rush in the morning, but then nothing for the rest of the day. This time, it just DIDN'T STOP. From 9 till 5 it was total madness... we were all utterly dead by the end of the day. But it was so worth it :P
Its actually kinda cool, being able to say that I was working in a bookstore on the day the final ever Harry Potter book was released ♥ I was one of the two people cutting the boxes open at 9.01am and I sold the first copy in our store :D I cant believe its all over forever! :(
